I'm lucky to live within a few miles of this all-organic farm that offers a wide variety of produce and some offerings from other local farms like eggs, cheese, and the yummiest goat's milk ice cream.

This was another attempt at homemade pie crust, and one of the most successful at that. The recipe was spooky because the cake contains sauerkraut and the icing contains mayonnaise. The cake was very yummy, the icing, not so much. His grandmother and aunt offered us two shopping bags full of grapefruit from their backyard tree, and because I love grapefruit I was very happy to have it, but because there was so much of it I must have looked a little worried, because his aunt exclaimed encouragingly, "Make grapefruit pie!".
