A few nights ago a friend and I made Salade Niçoise based on Julia Child's instruction in the French Chef episode. It was really delicious, consisting of simple, common ingredients in a combination that is unusual for the American palate. Dinner felt like a very special occasion.
I've also been trying to eat more per the French custom, with smaller portions and with greater variety. Today's lunch was butternut squash soup with a little blue cheese, polenta with sauteed swiss chard and garlic, and a half of a grapefruit.

More French cooking and eating is sure to come!

Hi, I just found your blog through Sew Retro. I'm so happy to see someone else enjoying Julia's amazing shows. We have all three of the French Chef sets in our house, and still can't get enough. My mom and I are hoping for the release of a fourth set. :) Julia is the consummate teacher. She's so sincere about food and cooking. Her enthusiasm is contagious, too!
Your Salad Nicoise sounds delicious! Yay for Julia!
