Here's an outfit I'd like to recreate.I'm imagining this sweet little set with the skirt in a nice soft denim and the blouse in something a little more floaty than regular cotton...lawn, perhaps?
I do already have a couple of patterns in my collection that will work for putting together this outfit.
Butterick 2504 for the blouse.

View C doesn't have the same vertical seams on the bodice as the inspiration photo, but I think I could probably recreate them. Wouldn't it be as simple as slashing the bodice, adding seam allowances, and then stitching it back together? Perhaps a nice flat-felled seam would emphasize that detail. I might also leave out the drawstring sleeve since a simple short sleeve is for me more flattering.
Simplicity 1592 will work for the skirt.

I just can't seem to find any nice quality denim in the local shops. Anyone have a good online source for denim? Perhaps a nice chambray would work well, too. I'll need to grade this pattern to fit, but I've already sewn a muslin so I know just what to adjust.
It will be a while before I can start this project, because kitchen curtains are up next.
By the way, the inspiration photo is from an ad for Hoover vacuums in the April 1948 issue of Better Homes and Gardens. I love the other dress (with pocket!) pictured, too.
